What is the best way to landscape a new home? How do you stage a home so it will sell quickly? How can you improve curb appeal? What are the steps involved in building a home? What’s a “drop zone”? What are the latest trends in kitchens and baths?

Consumers have questions and Hunt Midwest has answers. Those answers are easily accessed on the Web at www.HuntMidwest.TV, where consumers will find “Home Sense with Donice Yeater.” A variety of four- to six-minute videos offer information from experts for home sellers, buyers and owners. Home Sense can also be seen on YouTube (HomeSenseKC), and by becoming a friend on Facebook (Home Sense) or following on Twitter (HomeSenseKC).

“We wanted to reach people where they seek information,” said Tammy Henderson, director of real estate marketing for Hunt Midwest.

And the first place most people seek information is on the Internet; so Hunt Midwest, which has been developing communities in the Kansas City area for 16 years, created Home Sense with the help of Hagen and Partners and X2 Creative.

Each short video features Donice Yeater, a local mom and homeowner, interviewing an expert on a topic related to homes. Videos on landscaping, curb appeal and outdoor lighting feature landscaper Danny Triplett. Realtor Carolyn Heckert explains what a drop zone is and how it makes what used to be a mudroom more user friendly and convenient. Another Realtor, Yvonne Parker, tells about the importance and design of kitchen pantries. Home-staging expert Margy Ronning shows how important it is to set the right tone for selling an existing home and builder Chris Ragland with Homes by Chris talks about what makes the best home office set up.

Home Sense videos now in production that will soon be released include information on how to build a new home featuring home builder Mark Hoffman, home décor featuring decorator Pam McFarland and bed and bath trends featuring Kenny McFarland with McFarland Custom Builders.

“People want information about homes,” Henderson said. “They want it to be specific and they want it to be quick.”

Although Hunt Midwest has 12 active new-home communities, the idea behind the videos is to provide information that could be applied to any home, not just those in a Hunt Midwest community. However, Henderson believes the more educated homebuyers are, the more they realize the importance of choosing a community developed by a company like Hunt Midwest that has a strong track record of building communities with lasting value and the financial resources to provide the amenities it promises.

Among the 12 communities currently under development by Hunt Midwest are:

• Benson Place, Fieldstone and Benson Place, Woodchase, on 96th Street between Interstate 435 and North Flintlock in Kansas City, North.
